WMBA Foundation Scholarships
Purpose
The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) Foundation is proud to support the academic and career aspirations of its members by offering two scholarships to high school graduates who plan to pursue further education at a college, university, or trade school.
Criteria for selection
- The student must have played, refereed, convened, served as a gym supervisor or coached basketball in the WMBA.
- The student intends on pursuing further academic education either in college or university immediately after completing high school. Evidence of acceptance into a post-secondary educational institution will be required for funds to be released.
- The student has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to basketball in one of the areas previously identified.
- The student has been an ambassador for the WMBA and has promoted the league in the community.
Amount of the Award
Procedure for selection
- Interested students must complete the scholarship application form and outline their experience with the league and address all of the criteria for selection.
- The Foundation Board will review all applications and select the award winners. The individuals selected will be forwarded on to the WMBA Board of Directors as information.
- The recipients of the awards will be required to attend the Annual General Meeting on June 24, 2025 where they will be presented with the award.
- The WMBA will advertise the award winners on its website and social media.
