An 'Athlete Investment Program' workshop will be held on October 1st - October 3rd at the University of Winnipeg and hosted by Wesmen
Assistant Coach Suki Chhoeun. The workshop is targeted to females going
into grades 8-12 and is not for profit. The program's goal is to
inspire female athletes of all sports in knowing that anything is
achievable if you are willing to invest in all aspects of life and sport. Developing
essential leadership skills for female athletes of today; knowing you
have the power to change and guide your own future toward success and
excellence; and most importantly, gaining self-esteem &
self-confidence to provide ownership and leadership. For details...
The WMBAis pleased to share the news that WMBA Executive
Director Lee Hurton has given birth to her first child at 9:57 pm on
Wednesday September 1! Colin William Ross Hurton came into the world
weighing 7 lbs and 11 inches inches long. Both mom and baby are doing
great! Congratulations Lee & Jason!
The WMBA is seeking individuals to work as Gym Supervisors which help coordinate the different game sites throughout the season. Responsibilities will include setting up the gym for basketball and closing down the gym on game days, transporting the Game Site Equipment to and from the gym, assisting parents to scorekeep the games, ensuring the day runs on schedule and acting as a source for information at the games on behalf of the WMBA.
Since the Rising Stars League inception in the spring of 2007, the WMBA Board of Directors has continually tried to ensure that the there is a competitive level of play within the Rising Stars league including attracting all elite level club teams. Therefore, the WMBA plans to host the 2nd Annual Rising Stars Qualifying Tournament in September of 2009. This tournament would serve to identify the province’s most elite teams in the following age categories: Major Atom Boys & Girls (Born in 1998 or earlier), Bantam Boys & Girls (Born in 1997), and Midget Boys & Girls (Born in 1996).
If
your young athlete wants to develop basketball skills early, this program is
the perfect opportunity. The Junior Bisons Boys Basketball Club has a proven
track record of preparing young basketball players of higher level play and for
life.

The WMBA Foundation is thrilled to announce that it will now be offering two different types of subsidies for the 2010-2011 season.
